SHUTTER/NOTES ON A PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT
Shutter – Video installation
Every photography evokes a degree of presence, it is a continual return to the crime scene. An image is a malleable product, one in constant updating. It is a product that circulates at great speed and it is consumed to exhaustion. Every image is a source of constant fixations and reproductions. Between my body and its image there exists the technique which turns me into an impressions administrator. An administrator object. A manager of landscapes. I am a visual man in a photogenic city. Each building marks out its own territory and personality. Each corner dilutes itself in its own angle. I am a man and a point of scape. In order to understand an image one must travel into its center. One must project oneself into space, one must be an observator and be observed. I am a superexposed man. A portraits mediator.
Notes on a photography Project – Mixed media
This proposal constitutes a sort of visual «notebook» from images born during and in result of the development of project Shutter. The photographed do not try to «represent» absolutely nothing, they are not interpreters. They just observe a preestablished program, the camera program. They offer themselves in different staged situations which reproduce processes of image construction and of the very photographic exposure. The interveners are the apparatus «staff».
The boundary between what the creation process is, the execution, the interpretation and the exposure becomes diluted here. As a vestige there remains the memory of an action executed by a group of people whose functions become intermingled within the project and the only witness is the camera «lens» that captures everything through the partial eye of the photographer. The result is extremely partial and fragmented. The very observer must include himself too in the process in order to re-construct, to imagine or simply to «read» the choreography.
